Standards & Data Governance

Flange Bolt Chart is an engineering reference tool. The accuracy and provenance of the data is fundamental to its value. This page describes which standards are covered, what data domains are included, and how data is maintained.

Standards coverage

Reference data is derived from the following ASME standards. Specific editions are not listed here due to copyright restrictions, but the app uses the most recent editions available at the time of each data update.

StandardScope
ASME B16.5Pipe flanges and flanged fittings (NPS 1/2 through NPS 24)
ASME B16.47Large diameter steel flanges (NPS 26 through NPS 60)
ASME B36.10Welded and seamless wrought steel pipe dimensions
ASME B36.19Stainless steel pipe dimensions
ASME B16.20Metallic gasket dimensions (ring joint, spiral wound)
ASME B16.21Nonmetallic flat gasket dimensions
ASME B16.34Valves — flanged, threaded, and welding end
ASME PCC-1Guidelines for pressure boundary bolted flange joint assembly

Data domains

The app covers the following reference data categories:

Bolt sizing

Bolt diameter, length, and wrench size by NPS, pressure class, and flange type.

Torque patterns

Bolt tightening sequences by flange size and bolt count, with pass-by-pass torque values.

Torque values

Target torque by bolt size, gasket type, and lubricant condition.

Flange dimensions

Flange OD, bolt circle, raised face, and thickness across pressure classes 150 through 2500.

Gasket dimensions

Ring joint, spiral wound, and flat gasket dimensions by NPS and class.

Pipe schedules

Wall thickness, OD, ID, and weight for carbon steel and stainless steel pipe.

Valve dimensions

Face-to-face and end-to-end dimensions by NPS and class.

Data update process

Reference data is reviewed and updated when new editions of the underlying standards are published. Updates are verified against the source standard before release.

On mobile, updated data sets are bundled with app updates distributed through the iOS App Store and Google Play. Users receive the latest data automatically when they update the app.

On the web tool, data updates are deployed directly and available immediately.

Offline behavior

The mobile app stores all reference data locally on the device. Once downloaded, lookups do not require an internet connection. This is critical for field use in areas with limited or no connectivity.

Account authentication requires a network connection on first login. After that, the app operates fully offline until a subscription check is required (typically on app update or reinstall).

Accuracy commitment

All reference data is manually verified against the source standards. We cross-check values across multiple data points and test edge cases (minimum and maximum NPS, all pressure classes) before each release.

If you identify a discrepancy, please report it to support@flangeboltchart.com. We investigate and correct confirmed issues promptly.
